Bartica Beach is famous for the town's annual Regatta on Easter Day as the beach and stand is packed with spectators for the many boat races.  In addition to the boat race, this beach attract tourist all year round.

On quiet days, it is perfect for swimming in the seemingly calm water of the Mazaruni River, but as you swim further out the current can pull you away as it collects into the Mighty Essequibo River.  The scenery is breathtaking in the evening were you can see several small islands dotting the rivers.
