The Guyana Heritage Museum houses irons, enamel lunch carriers, ice-shavers, three-legged iron pots, 18th and 19th century maps, coins and stamps, other artifacts and an impressive collection of books by Guyanese authors awaken a sense of nostalgia. It was obvious that the collection of these artifacts at the museum in Kastev, West Coast Demerara, was as a result of love for one's country, dedication and hard work over a number of years.

Gluck Island is a 24 square-mile, uninhabited island in the Essequibo River and perfect for eco-tourist. It can be reached by ferry from Rockstone Village. While crossing over the river, big caimans in the water are onlookers on evenings and giant Otters on mornings at sandbanks. Over 200 species of birds have been identified.

Bartica Beach is famous for the town's annual Regatta on Easter Day as the beach and stand is packed with spectators for the many boat races. In addition to the boat race, this beach attract tourist all year round.

Parrot Island is on the mighty Essequibo River over looking Bartica, from where you can charter a boat to view tens of thousands of parrots returning home at sunset. This small island is preserved and protected by the authorities against poaching; there is no landing to enter the island. However, visitors can observe from a boat—engine off—that drifts along the side.

Castellani House (home of the National Art Gallery), this large wooden building was designed by Cesar Castellani. It was once the residence of the Director of Agriculture in 1888.
